About me
My name is Liesa Möbius and I was born in Jena 1988. From then on I lived in a small village, before I moved in the age of 18 back to the city of Jena. From 2008 to 2011 I started a training occupation and became a midwife. From then on I worked in the hospital and switched every half year between the delivery room and the childbed ward. During this time I started working as a freelancer. I gave prenatal classes, visited the mothers to be at home and attended them and their babies after the birth.
Then, in 2013 I was luckely also in the position to get to know all these things, because I got pregnant. The experience of a pregnancy and becoming a mother, changed a little bit the way, of how I was thinking about my role in work. I was able to see how huge the impact of a midwife can be. After my second child was born in 2015, I ended the employment in the hospital and started to work exclusively as a freelancer.
Nowadays I give prenatal classes, visit the pregnant women, do prevention like the doctors (messuring the belly, checking the position of the baby, looking after bloodpressure and the urin of the mother, checking the blood and furthermore), just without doing ultrasound. I take care for the mothers and the babies after birth and give postnatal classes. The classes take place in the office of my colleague Constance Richter in Lobeda West.
I don´t do prenatal classes for just englisch speaking women, but I will give you a contact for one, who is doing that. I could also speak one at one with you at home about all the important things you have to know. But sometimes a special class with other pregnant and english speaking women can be nice for you, at least just for to get in contact.
For the postnatal class there will be no problem. I will translate eveything for you.
Good to know: all the costs for the pre- and postnatal care, as well as the classes, are covered by your insurance.
Pregnancy Care
When you allow me to look after you in the whole experience of becoming a mother, we will see us during the pregnancy for at least 4 times. For me it´s very important that we really get to know each other and that I´m staying updated about how your pregnancy is going on. You can choose between two opportunities. First we can meet us additional to the visits at the doc. We will speak about how you are doing, the issues you might have, how to solve them and the questions which are in your mind about the equipment your baby might need.
Then you can also decide, that we are doing the exams like the doctor will do. Messuring the belly, checking the position of the baby, looking after the bloodpressure and the urin, checking your blood and all the other things which are recommended in the Mutterschaftsrichtlinien. It´s the same what the doctor will do, just without doing the ultrasound. You can do this additionally to the appointments at your gynacologist or replacenally. It´s up to you, what you want and need and also, what is the best for you and your baby.
Childbed Care
During this time I will come frequently and look after you and your baby. I will weight the baby, look how the navel is healing, check how your recovery after the pregnancy is going on and speak with you about all the questions, which are running through your head now. "Which clothes we should put on to the baby?" "What can we do against tummy pain?" "Is there anything I have to watch out, while breastfeeding?" "Which formular milk can I give?" "How can I introduce some food?" The list could be endless. I will help you find the answers.
In the most times I will come to you for at least 8 weeks and visit you again for the time, when you want to introduce food. But I´m there for you for up to 9 months, if you want it.
Postnatal class
We will meet us, with other mothers and their babies, around 6-10 weeks after giving birth. The date of starting depends on the way you have given birth. After a c-section you should begin at the earliest after 10 weeks, then the stitches should be healed.
We will focus on the pelvic floor, while also training other muscles. We will start slow, just finding the pelvic floor and tighten it up, while feeling the gravitiy. Then we will do more and more, work with our bodyweight and will switch to workout with soft balls, elastic tape and light dumbbells.
The class will be for 10 weeks, one appointment each week and every session in the length of one hour. Of course the babies are welcome!
